Día de los Muertos at the Terlingua Cemetery
Every November 2 at sunset, the historic Terlingua Cemetery comes alive. Families and neighbors place candles, flowers, and photos on the graves, leave mementos at the altars, light a bonfire, and gather with chairs, music, food, and old friends late into the night. It is not somber, but it is respectful: a celebration of the people who came before us.

Chili Cookoff Week in Terlingua
The week after Día de los Muertos, Terlingua hosts two of the most famous chili cookoffs in the world, back to back on Highway 170.
59th Annual CASI Terlingua International Chili Championship
Rancho CASI de los Chisos, 80 Mariposa Mine Road / Hwy 170, between Study Butte and Lajitas. Five days of chili and food contests, live bands, karaoke, and dry camping. The International Championship is on Saturday, November 7.
Come find Terlingua Southern Border at CASI! We'll be on site selling TSB merch and original artwork. And you might just hear some TSB Music jamming.
59th Annual Original Terlingua International Championship Chili Cook-Off
The Frank X. Tolbert–Wick Fowler Memorial cook-off, the original Terlingua chili showdown since 1967. 22970 FM 170, Terlingua. One wristband covers tastings, live music, vendors, and camping. The gate is cash only.
